One of the most popular views of Florence is from Piazzale Michelangelo, which sits on a hill in Oltrarno. It was built in 1869 by the architect Giuseppe Poggi and is famous for its replica of Michelangelo’s David statue that sits in the plaza. While the views are beautiful, this lookout is always crowded, so try to visit during off hours. It’s open 24/7, so you can stop by any time.
