Sitting below the ancient Acropolis, the rocky Areopagus Hill viewpoint dates back to around the same time, i.e., the 5th century BCE. It’s believed that this site was once the place of the Athenian judicial council. Become mesmerized by sweeping views over Athens, or looking upward, you directly face the Acropolis. It’s an epic spot for photos. Interestingly, the rock-strewn outcrop’s name translates to “Mars Hill.” Take care when climbing the sometimes slippery slope. It’s free to visit.
