The local take
Museums range from Romanesque church art to modern painting, design and science, and several modernista houses open their rooms to show how the city's architects lived and built. Evenings bring intimate flamenco shows, cabaret and small independent theaters across El Born and El Raval. In summer, whole neighborhoods throw street festivals with decorated streets, live bands, fire runs and human towers, a Catalan tradition worth planning a trip around.
The gardens on Montjuïc offer shade and wide views over the port, and day trips head up the coast for clifftop walks between coves or inland to medieval towns. Every pick comes from our local guides, each with a short note, and the chips let you sort by museums, live events, festivals, parks or day trips.
