"A masterpiece of 16th-century urban architecture, often called the jewel of the Italian Cinquecento. Monumental palaces, steep streets and historic underground wine cellars define one of the most powerful hill towns in southern Tuscany."

Florence & Countryside Local

Montepulciano is one of Tuscany’s most well-known medieval hilltop towns, and it is a super popular destination. This means it gets very busy in summertime, but during the cooler months, takes on a completely different feeling; an almost eerie one that suits its medieval vibes. Vino Nobile red wine is produced here, and you can explore the town’s underground wine cellars. Popular landmarks include its 14th-century fortified walls, the Cathedral, and Piazza Grande.
