Hoa Lu and Tam Coc are about 120 kilometers south of Hanoi and are ideal places to take a break from the city. They're in Ninh Binh province and offer green rural scenery that's beautiful to discover on a bike. Two kilometers away is Bich Dong, an emerald grotto that has panoramic views of the surrounding rice paddies. A stop at the Hoa Lu pagoda is also a must if you're in the area.
