Ba Đình, Hanoi

"This is the complex of historical buildings from the 11th century. Also, conveniently located near the Old Quarter."
This complex of historical buildings in the Hoan Kiem district dates back to the 11th century. It was built on top of the remains of a Chinese fortress from the 7th century and was the center of power for the following 13 centuries. Only a small part of this UNESCO World Heritage Site has been excavated, but visitors can see the main gate, Hanoi Flag Tower, and parts of the remaining palaces.
