Belvedere, which means “beautiful view,” is a 16th-century fortified villa on a hill in Oltrarno. This location is perfect to see incredible views of Florence and the surrounding countryside. It’s on the tallest hill of the Boboli Gardens and was designed to protect the powerful Medici family from unwanted visitors. Today, you can visit the fortress for free or enjoy a guided tour for €5.
