Bolhão, Porto

"There's nothing here I don't like; like any other Portuguese, I have a very sweet tooth."
Third-generation run Doces Conventuais de Arouca is very unique in that it offers the opportunity to taste artisanal sweet confections from a monastery in Arouca! The Bastos family’s great aunt was a nun there, and recipes have been passed down. Castanhas doces (sweet chestnuts), roscas de amêndoa (almond rings), charutos de amêndoa (almond cigars), pão de São Bernardo (Saint Bernard's bread), cavacas, and pumpkin and walnut compote are just some examples of what lies in-store.
