"A lovely colonial town where you can discover pre-hispanic ruins, colonial churches, and great food. Visit El Pika for the best barbacoa in a one-of-a-kind, fair-like setting."
Licensed Tour Guide
Mexico City Local

Travel 45 minutes outside Mexico City to arrive in Texcoco. It holds historical significance, especially its Lake Texcoco, where an Aztec City one stood circa the Pre-Hispanic Era. The city you see now was founded by the Nahuatl-speaking tribe groups. It feels a lot more authentically local and is not as built-up as Mexico City. You feel totally transported. Things to see and do include the hike to the Texcotzingo ruins, a visit to the bright Catedral de Texcoco, Molino de Flores National Park, and indulging in traditional barbacoa.
