Mexico City Local

Acolman is nestled about a mile from the Teotihuacan Pyramids in El Estado de México and is home to a well-preserved Augustinian monastery. The monastery, San Agustín de Acolman, was built in the middle of the 16th century and has plenty to see, from the atrial cross of Acolman to murals dating back to the 1560s. Fun fact — this site is the birthplace of the piñata!
