Tepoztlán is named after Tepoztecatl, the Aztec god of harvest, fertility, and pulque (a fermented pre-Hispanic beverage), and this city’s claim to fame is the Pirámide del Tepozteco. Hike the two-mile trail to reach this archaeological landmark. The climb is a bit intense, so make sure to wear proper footwear, bring water, and be prepared to take advantage of the rest stops along the route.
