Hanoi hosts the Spring Calligraphy Festival at the Temple of Literature in the Old Quarter each year. Calligraphers from Hanoi and several other provinces come to display their work around Van Lake with the purpose of spreading awareness of calligraphy's importance in Vietnamese culture. The exhibition uses light and writing to create an engaging public art space. Many activities take place during the festival, like traditional art programs, craft markets, and more.
