City Center, Florence & Countryside

"If you are looking to visit the interior of a church in Florence, this is my top recommendation. A monumental Gothic cathedral and the burial place of geniuses such as Michelangelo and Galileo.."
This basilica in the city center is the largest Franciscan church in the world. Construction started in 1294, but there have been several additions to it since then, including a bell tower and a cloister. The neo-Gothic facade dates back to the mid-19th century. The interior boasts stunning frescoes, a crucifix sculpted by Donatello, and more classic Renaissance pieces. It also houses the tombs of Italian icons like Michelangelo, Galileo, and Machiavelli. Tickets cost €8.
