Valencia

"If you’re into history, Sagunto is a must—this is where the Second Punic War began, the very conflict that led Hannibal to cross the Alps with his elephants."
History buffs should visit Sagunto, a village 30 kilometers north of Valencia. Settlers from the Mediterranean arrived in the 5th century BCE and built a walled fortification on a hill overlooking the plain below. Later, the Romans built a theater in the first century AD, a highlight of any visit to Sagunto. This town also has an ancient Jewish Quarter, Gothic churches, and medieval villas, so there’s plenty of architecture to see.
