City Center, Florence & Countryside

"As picturesque as it gets, the bridge is the oldest standing bridge in Florence and definitely the most celebrated. "
Ponte Vecchio is a symbol of Florence. This striking bridge over the Arno River was completed in 1345, but scholars believe there was a bridge here as far back as Roman times. Butchers, tanners, and blacksmiths used to have shops on the bridge, but goldsmiths and jewelers later replaced them. Today, you’ll see merchants selling jewelry, art, and all kinds of souvenirs as you cross the bridge.
