The history inside the Baroque walls of Palais-Royal dates back to the early 17th century—when Louis XIII lived there. The site was also an epicenter of the French Revolution. Now, the gardens inside the former royal palace offer a pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle of the 1st Arrondissement in an open green space. There are also 3 arcades where you can shop, eat, and drink in some of the city’s oldest restaurants.
