"This is a great spot to visit between October and December for scenic hikes and stunning views of the lake-filled landscape."

Mexico City Local

Towering over the city of Toluca and only three hours away from Mexico City by car is this long-extinct volcano reaching over 5,675 meters. Nicknamed “Xinantécatl” by the Aztecs, meaning “naked man,” its peak is often dusted with snow during the winter months. Here, hikers can tackle the slopes, admiring the two crater lakes nestled within the crater. Plus, the National Park below offers opportunities for mountain biking, horseback riding, and camping.
