Alcântara, Lisbon

"Showcasing a vast collection of art from the Middle Ages to the early 19th century, the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga is a true cultural treasure trove."
This museum specializes in European, African, and Asian art from the Middle Ages to the early 19th century. It’s housed in a 17th-century palace that was once the site of a 16th-century convent in Lapa. The museum has an excellent selection of works by Portuguese artists, including paintings, ceramics, textiles, and other items. One of the most popular things to see is the collection of gold and silver tableware made for the Portuguese royal family.
