Museu do Oriente (Museum of the East)

Portugal was the first Western country to travel to Asia during the golden age of exploration in the 15th century. Today, you can learn more about this achievement and Asian cultures in the Museu do Oriente in Alcântara. You’ll see displays of various objects from different countries and cultures betweean the two main collections. The museum is in a building from the 1930s on what used to be Lisbon’s main port.
