Situated within the midst of the Tuscan Apennines (a rugged mountain range where the border between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna is formed), the La Verna sanctuary is perched on Mount Penna. What makes it extra special is that not only is it shrouded by a National Park, but you can catch a glimpse of the stigmata of Saint Francis of Assisi from this vantage point.
