Arezzo, Florence & Countryside

"Founded in the 11th century and central to Western eremitic and monastic life. The complex combines a monastery and hermitages in the Foreste Casentinesi, expressing a radical relationship between spirituality, silence and nature."
You could easily mistake Camaldoli for a tiny little village or hamlet if you didn’t know any better. However, it’s actually a small commune of Benedictine monks. Around the area is the Monastery of Camaldoli, and within this religious complex is the refectory, the old pharmacy (once used as a laboratory), the newer Modern Library (added in 2021), and the Church of SS. Donato and Ilariano. A couple of kilometers from the monastery is the Camaldoli Hermitage.
