Ribeira, Porto

"A gilded woodwork Portuguese Baroque masterpiece. A former small church of Santa Clara nuns. A beautiful experience that will leave you with no words."
This church, located near the Batalha square, is a Portuguese Baroque masterpiece that dates back to 1416. The outside, which follows the Gothic style, is fairly unassuming. However, the interior is completely surprising, filled with intricate gilded woodwork carvings and Baroque art. It’s in a peaceful courtyard just off a leafy square. General admission is €4 with some discounts available.
