Porto

"One of Porto’s most important festivals, where locals gather downtown to enjoy fireworks, eat sardines, and listen to music. Arrive early to secure a spot, as it gets very busy."
São João is a festival that takes place the night between June 23rd and 24th. This day has pagan roots but is officially celebrated as the celebration of St. John and dates back hundreds of years. The night starts with traditional foods like grilled sardines and peppers and ends with fireworks explosions over the Dom Luís I Bridge. After that, the crowds make their way to the beach to dance the night away.
