"Fiesole is known as the “mamma di Firenze” due to its ancient Etruscan roots; this museum displays artifacts from the Etruscan, Roman, and Lombard eras, alongside the remains of a Roman amphitheater and thermal baths."

Florence & Countryside Local

Rent a Vespa, car or catch the train to the town of Fiesole — a 20-minute drive outside of Florence, going uphill, past the Michelangelo Plaza. Here, explore the Civic Archaeological Museum and ruins dating to the times of the Etruscans (prevalent around 900 BCE), Romans, and Lombards. This includes outdoor archeological sites. Inside the museum are two floors laden with rich artifacts, like Villanovan pottery, Etruscan grave markers, Roman bronze and stone artifacts, remains of temples and walls, and so much more. Afterward, walk around the small town center.
