Realejo, Granada

"Formal gardens and a small palace beside the Alhambra, often used for weddings."
Stepping onto the grounds of Carmen de los Mártires, things immediately feel old-worldly in a very classically Spanish sort of way. Once a palace located close to the Alhambra (where it is still situated), today the public space is free to visit and contains many fascinating parts. This includes a rather exotic-looking garden, as well as dug-out silos. There’s also an aqueduct, as well as various types of building ruins. Its standing palace is a prime example of the city’s ancient architecture, depicting Moorish design.
