San Lorenzo, Florence & Countryside

"If you want to truly understand Michelangelo Buonarroti’s art, there is no place quite like this. Seven of his statues are on display within architecture he personally designed, creating the ultimate Michelangelo experience. As a devoted fan, I am still in awe every time I enter."
The final resting place for many members of the influential Medici family, this chapel is now a national monument open to the public. What makes it even more of a must-see is its collection of sculptures by one of Florence’s most famous artists: Michelangelo. Cappelle Medicee has beautiful frescoes, several crypts, and a mausoleum. Tickets cost €9, but admission is free on the first Sunday of every month.
