Basilica di San Lorenzo
"A must-see for those who wish to understand the origins of Renaissance architecture. Every time I enter I can't help but fall for the minimalist charm of Brunelleschi’s architecture."

Florence & Countryside Local

The foundations of this church, one of the biggest in Florence, can be traced back to 393 AD. In 1419, the renowned Renaissance architect Filippo Brunelleschi (the designer of Florence's iconic dome) gave it a makeover, updating and expanding the design. Inside, you’ll find sculptures by Michelangelo and Donatello, chapels, and the final resting places of some of the most prominent members of the Medici family. Tickets cost €6 for adults.
