Looking for a day trip out of Lisbon? I’ve been touring the area for over 20 years, and these are just a few of my favorite sights to visit around Lisbon! I love the feeling of exploring a region where medieval history, seafood, fishing, surfing, and good weather all come together for an unforgettable experience. We’ll begin our day by driving towards Alcobaça, home to one of Portugal's most impressive landmarks: the Monastery of Alcobaça. This World Heritage Gothic complex, declared one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal in 2007, is the final resting place of King Pedro I and his tragic lover, Inês de Castro, whose doomed love story is one of the most heart-wrenching in history. Next, we’ll head to Nazaré, where you can enjoy the town’s long, sandy, half-moon shaped beach. Nazaré is famous for its grand beach, dotted with brightly colored awnings that contrast beautifully with the blue waters, making it a picturesque spot to relax. Our final stop before returning to Lisbon will be Óbidos, where we’ll take a stroll through the town’s charming streets. We can shop in the local stores and sample the famous cherry liquor! The historic center of Óbidos is surrounded by a classic crenellated wall and features a maze of cobblestone streets and flower-filled whitewashed houses, creating an enchanting atmosphere. We’ll have fun, take beautiful photos, and learn a lot about Portugal! Let’s make it a wonderful day together!
