Centro, Oaxaca de Juárez

"This 16th-century Catholic church, built by the Dominican order, is the most beautiful in the city. Step inside to admire its baroque-style details, and if you're lucky, you might witness a wedding or a traditional parade."
This 16th-century Baroque church is the most beautiful in Oaxaca. Named after the Spanish monk Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the church was built between 1570 and 1608 by the city’s Dominican order. Note the intricate gilt designs, hand-painted figures, and elaborate Capilla de la Virgen del Rosario. Nighttime masses are especially beautiful when the church is aglow in candles.
