The Penha Sanctuary is in Guimarâes, about 60 kilometers northeast of Porto. It’s on the Mountain da Penha, the highest peak in the zone. The mountain has hiking trails, chapels, and hidden caves and grottoes. While the sanctuary at the top of the mountain is the main attraction, many come here to enjoy the wooded areas, picnicking spots, and the views of Guimarâes below.
