Le Repaire de Cartouche

For old-school, traditional home-cooked French food, Le Repaire de Cartouche is an institute. Famed all over the country for its homemade terrines, other classics to try include the vol-au-vent (made from puff pastry), cassoulet (slow-cooked stew), and the whole roasted chicken with frites. Another standout is the truffle macaroni gratin. On the sweet side, order a gigantic bowl of chocolate mousse. The cheese selection is out-of-this-world, with a cheese trolley that comes around and you choose and cut your own from it.
