"Hadrian’s Library is one of my favourite historical spots, with its peaceful atmosphere and the remnants of an ancient library that once held important texts. I love visiting and imagining the bustling centre of learning it once was."
Literary lovers and historians, you simply cannot miss Hadrian’s Library. While the only remains are cast from stone, its ancient rooms once stored papyrus scrolls and texts. Founded by the Roman Emperor Hadrian (hence the name), the space contained multiple rooms (former reading and lecture rooms), a pool, and gardens. It’s easy to reach as it’s opposite Monastiraki Station or just a 12-minute walk from Syntagma Square. The Acropolis is a nine-minute walk away.
