Oltrarno, Florence & Countryside

"Away from the limelight of the main museums, the Brancacci Chapel doesn’t fail to attract art-history lovers eager to see where the history of painting was changed forever by the hand of Masaccio."
Most notable for its beautiful paintings and artwork, this chapel is located inside the Santa Maria del Carmine church. The artist Masaccio was commissioned to paint the chapel between 1425 and 1427. It's been called the Sistine Chapel of the Early Renaissance due to its beauty and demonstration of skill. The entrance to the chapel is through a convent designed by Brunelleschi. General admission is €8.
