Restelo, Lisbon

"Offers a wonderful view of the river and is rarely visited by tourists."
Hardly visited by tourists, this has its pros as you have this viewpoint all to yourself. Most visitors end up missing this small yet quaint Manueline-style (also referred to as Portuguese late Gothic) chapel. Instead, they head straight to Jerónimos Monastery — only a five-minute drive from here. Capela São Jerónimo overlooks the Tagus River in the Belém area. There’s a wonderful garden in front of the church for a quiet moment, and the entrance inside the chapel is free. It was built in 1514.
