Whether talking about the exteriors or the interiors of Capela de Santo Amaro, both parts of this unusually rounded chapel are intriguing. Its roots are traced to 1549; because of its historical antiquity, it’s classified as a National Monument. The facade is decorated in small and large azulejos (Portuguese ceramic tiles). Inside, there’s a lot of attention to detail in the frescoes, especially those around the altar. It also doubles as a view spot. Built on a hill, it overlooks the 25 de Abril Bridge. Bring your cameras along. There’s a small local café nearby.
