Ever so slightly off the main tourist path but still at the heart of the city center sits the Arco da Rua Augusta — right on the water’s edge. Thanks to its positioning, it has sublime views of Commerce Square, Augusta Street, and the waterfront. It makes for an excellent photo backdrop. You can also ascend the 11-meter-tall Baroque Revival-style landmark via an elevator. Around the arch are cafes, restaurants, and shops.
