Thissio, Athens

"The Ancient Agora is where ancient Athenians gathered to discuss philosophy, politics, and daily life. I love wandering through the ruins, bringing to life for my guests the buildings and practices that took place here thousands of years ago."
From a pre-historic cemetary to the center of the Athenian government, Ancient Agora is steeped in history, from social to political. With many different parts to it, easily spend at least three hours here, meandering between the ancient ruins and excavated structures/buildings. Check out multiple statues scattered around, including portrait busts. Some pivotal monuments are the Temple of Hephaestus, the Tholos, and the Bouleuterion. The best place to start is at the Ancient Agora of Athens Museum.
