Each year, the city of Hanoi organizes a Dragon Boat Race competition on West Lake in the Old Quarter. The event started in 2018; since then, locals and visitors alike come out in October to watch hundreds of rowers take part in this unique aquatic festival. Both amateur and professional athletes participate, representing clubs, businesses, or organizations. The festival aims to protect this traditional sport and to entertain the public.
