"Even if you’re not an opera lover, you’ll be amazed by this 18th-century opera house and its museum, which features a priceless collection of musical instruments, costumes, and historic opera memorabilia."
Teatro alla Scala, or La Scala, is an 18th-century Neoclassical opera house designed by Giuseppe Piermarini. Despite only taking two years to build, the theatre features intricate details and inspirational design inside and out. La Scala was built after the famous Teatro Regio Ducale burned down, replacing the world-class opera house with another on the former site of Santa Maria alla Scala church. Pay attention to the horseshoe-style auditorium, which provides its celebrated acoustics.
