"A grand 15th-century fortress and former residence of Milan’s aristocratic rulers, now housing museums, Michelangelo’s final sculpture, and a ceiling designed by Leonardo da Vinci."

Milan Local

This 15th-century castle was designed by the Duke of Milan, Francesco Sforza. He began construction on his home of Visconti Castle, extending the medieval walls and adding the Filarete Tower, which was rebuilt to its current state in 1905. While historically a site of battle, the estate and gardens are now one of Milan’s most picturesque sites. Inside, be sure to look for Pietà Rondanini, Michelangelo’s final (and unfinished) sculpture.
