Asakusa, Tokyo

"A 3-day festival held in early summer at Asakusa Shrine, one of the biggest festivals in Tokyo."
Sanja Matsuri is one of Tokyo’s biggest festivals. It takes place over the third full weekend of May in the Akasaka district and celebrates the founders of the Asakusa Shrine next to the temple. During this festival, nearly two million people come to see processions, pray, and enjoy traditional activities. There are plenty of food stalls, games, and music, too, so it’s fun for the whole family.
