Carretera de la Sierra, Granada

"Walk among the monumental tombs and sculptures of Granada’s 19th-century cemetery, a peaceful place that tells the city’s story through art and memory."
Officially the San José Municipal Cemetery of Granada, the burial grounds are famous not for those passed, but rather for the structural elements. Moreover, it’s the second-oldest municipal cemetery in Spain. Before it became a cemetery in the 18th century, the area was home to other archaeological sites dating to the 13th century. Apart from this piece of history, visitors enjoy scoping out the funerary sculptures. It’s around the corner from the Alhambra parking lot.
