Palacio, Madrid

"It’s a must-see! Don’t miss the armory and the view from the balcony under the arches of the armory courtyard. If you buy tickets online, the line will be shorter."
Spain’s Royal Palace was built on the foundations of a 9th-century Moorish fortress. The palace then burned down and was rebuilt in the 18th century, as it stands today. A walk through the palace includes seeing the armory, the royal kitchen, the main staircase, and several opulent rooms. The changing of the guard happens on Wednesday and Saturday, weather permitting. There are different ticket options, but a basic ticket costs €14.
