"A cemetery might not be the first place you’d think of for a walk, but this one is legendary. Famous tombs, stunning sculptures, and a beautiful view. You might even spot some foxes!"
From Oscar Wilde to Frédéric François Chopin to Jim Morrison to Eugène Delacroix; the Père Lachaise Cemetery is not only France’s largest, but its burial grounds house tombs of some of the most famous people in history. As one of the world’s most-visited cemeteries, the funerary art is a combination of styles, from Gothic to Modern. Be prepared to walk a lot: the grounds are 44 hectares. This is an excellent one for history and art buffs.
