These 34-hectare gardens once graced the private estate of 19th-century royalty. They were donated to the city in 1893 by Princess Maria Luisa herself and soon transformed into a romantic public park. The ponds and characteristic ceramic tiles are from the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. Plaza de España and Plaza de América are an absolute must-visit if you're an architecture buff. Just be sure to get there early to avoid the usual crowds, especially if you want to take pictures with no tourists in sight.
