Bairro Alto, Lisbon

"Known as the “Cathedral of Bread,” this place boasts a traditional atmosphere and an impressive Art Nouveau-inspired interior."
This bakery was founded in 1961 as a merger of several smaller bakeries in Bairro Alto. Today, locals and visitors see this interesting bakery reminiscent of a cathedral with Art-Nouveau-inspired décor, marble countertops, and colorful tiles. Besides fresh bread, customers can try tasty pastries, some of which reflect the season or upcoming holiday. There are seven other locations across Lisbon in addition to the original.
