A local chain that opened its first location in Genoa in 1885, Panarello has been an institution in Italy for well over 100 years. While locals and tourists line up for a variety of cakes and tarts, the cannoncini is Panarello’s claim to fame. The large pastry is stuffed with sweet cream and dipped in cake crumbles, then topped with powdered sugar. It’s a staple in Milan, and understandably so.
