Minato-ku, Tokyo

"A teahouse surrounded by a pond with beautiful scenery, where you can enjoy matcha tea with sweets. The Meiji Emperor welcomed President Grant here in the early 20th century."
Nakajima-no-ochaya is a picturesque teahouse inside Hama-riku Gardens. It sits in the middle of one of the park’s ponds, giving visitors the impression it’s floating on the water. To get to the teahouse, cross one of the wooden bridges connecting it to land. Once inside, take off your shoes and sit on the tatami mats, or you can enjoy your tea and cakes outside on the benches.
