French painter Nélie Jacquemart-André and her husband Édouard André, lived in this 19th-century mansion in the 8th arrondissement. The couple acquired a lot of famous artwork over the years, and this museum was opened to highlight their collection. Many of the paintings were from renaissance artists like Vittore Carpaccio and Giovanni Bellini. Downstairs, you can also find Rembrandt’s Supper at Emmaus, a Baroque oil painting of Christ revealing himself to disciples.
