São Vicente, Lisbon

"Lisbon's oldest, least visited, and yet most surprising museum."
This museum is Lisbon’s oldest, dating back to 1876. Located in Alfama, the building is adorned with paintings and tiles displaying important moments in the country’s military history. Inside, the Baroque-style halls and galleries are decorated with cannons, frescoes, and replicas of armor suits from the 16th century. One of the most interesting artifacts you’ll find is King João’s 14th-century sword.
